Izumi: Largest Gathering of Cranes in Japan

The city of Izumi is the site of largest gathering on cranes in Japan. Every year 10,000 cranes migrate here for the winter. There is an Observation center, a museum, and even a shrine centered around these feathered winter visitors.

Uji,Kyoto: Bastion of Cormorant Fishing

Uji is one of only a few places in Japan, where cormorant fishing is still done.At night, Fisherman fish using trained cormorants and fire.
